Soprano Julianne Gearhart is quickly becoming known on both sides of the Atlantic for her remarkable theatrical presence as well as the crystalline quality of her singing. A devoted singer of Strauss, Gearhart has sung Zerbinetta for numerous companies including The Grand Theatre Geneve and the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv.  She spent the 2010/2011 season in Europe singing for  Belgium's Vlaamse Opera, where her roles included the Falke in Die Frau ohne Schatten, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and Melanto in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria. She sang her first Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier for the Seattle Opera with Peter Rose. Gearhart's relationship with Seattle has been close and longstanding. Other roles followed,  including Woglinde and the Waldvogel in the Ring Cycle as well as a relationship with the Seattle Symphony, for whom she will sing Poulenc's Gloria this fall. Her next appearance with the opera in Seattle will be in Orphee et Euridice as Amor.

    Gearhart has performed at the Edinburgh International Festival, for Opera North, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Seattle Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Grand Rapids, Seattle Symphony,  Vlaamse Opera, Canadian Chamber Orchestra of New York, Salem Philharmonic Orchestra, MidAmerica Productions at Carnegie Hall, Palm Beach Symphony, the Alba Music Festival in Alba, Italy, Chamber Music Amarillo,  New Israeli Opera,  and the Grand Theatre Geneve. Her roles include Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Madame Goldentrill in The Impresario, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos, Oscar in Ballo in Maschera, Gilda in Rigoletto, Nanetta in Falstaff, Olympia in The Tales of Hoffman, Juliette in Romeo et Juliette, Helen Niles in Mourning becomes Electra,  and Marzelline in Fidelio.

    A MacAllister finalist and a winner of the Meistersinger Competition in Graz, Austria, as well as other awards,  Gearhart's performances have been praised as: "the sonic equivalent of a crystal chandelier" , "had patrons' heads spinning with the bouyant charm and sparkle of her vocal acting",  "proved her worth as a singing actress...a bewitchingly artless Sophie" by The Opera Critic, Opera Now, and the Seattle Times, and  "sang like an angel...her voice as pure as falling water" by Opera News.
